Abstract
337,876. Voss, S. Aug. 30, 1929. Overhead travellers and transporters. -An aerial ropeway transporter has one end of the supporting rope fixed to the carrier and the other end passing over a pulley on the carrier and hanging down therefrom so as to support the hoisting device, a balance weight being arranged to counterbalance the weight of the carrier and through a sliding strut to transmit a downward thrust to the hoisting device. The supporting rope b passes over a pulley d or drum on the trestle c, and over a second pulley f on the trestle g. The carrier a has an upper pulley e resting on the upper run of the supporting rope, one end of the lower run being secured to the carrier and the other end passing over a second pulley h on the carrier and extending downwards therefrom and carrying the hoisting device i. The load can be traversed by means of the pulley d. The hoisting rope k passes from a winch m on the trestle c and round pulleys on the hoisting device to the trestle g. A balance weight r is suspended from a rope o passing over a pulley q on the trestle g and under pulleys n on the carrier so as to form a bight passing round a pulley p, the other end of the rope being fixed to the trestle c. The pulley p is mounted on a support s sliding through a guide t on the carrier and mounted on the hoisting device. Thus the balance weight relieves the supporting rope of part of the weight of the carrier and transmits the thrust to the hoisting device causing the hanging part of the supporting rope to be extended and so lessening the sag. The hoisting device may be in the form of a block and tackle.
