Abstract

Staging, suspended.-A member E, which may be a heavy load, or a pulley carrying the rope supporting a load, or workmen's staging, is carried by a lever pivoted at C by a ball or cardan joint to a second lever. and balanced by an adjustable weight D. The second lever is pivoted to a fixed or portable standard, or to a hanging bracket, by a second ball or cardan joint and is provided with an adjustable balance weight B. For heavy loads, the balance weights would be adjusted by screw-and-nut mechanism, or by hydraulic rams. The levers may be duplicated in some cases to form jointed parallelograms.
