Abstract
287,886. Demag Akt.-Ge,s. March 28, 1927, [Convention date]. Jib cranes.-In a level-luffing crane in which the load-carrying jib 13, 14 is carried by a main jib 11 pivoted at 16 and a radius rod 12 pivoted at 17, or an equivalent guiding means, and the load rope passes over pulleys 15, 26, 27 to the drum 28, the arm 14 is inclined either upwardly or downwardly From the arm 13 in order to give greater freedom in design. The angle between the arms 13, 14 may be adjustable by means such as a tie-rope or spindle, not illustrated. One of the pivotal supports 16, 17 may be adjustable. Luffing is effected by gear 22, 23 or by a crank. The jib system is balanced by a counterweight 30 suspended from a rope 31 connected to the main jib at 32, and passing over a guide pulley 33 at any point on the frame. The point 32 may pass beyond the line 16, 33 and the weight 30 will then oppose further luffing in that direction.
