Abstract
357,664. Jib cranes; winding- apparatus. SANTAMARINA, P., 126, Calle Libertad, Valencia, Spain. July 7, 1930, No. 20581. [Classes 78 (iv) and 78 (v).] A level luffing jib crane has the hoisting rope passing over a system of four pulleys, one mounted in guides and controlled by a pivoted rod, to secure a horizontal movement of the load. The hoisting rope J passes from the jib-head pulley T over a pulley A mounted on the rear end of the jib then over a pulley B mounted on the rotary crane structure L, over a pulley C having rollers running in a guide D<1> and over a pulley on the axis of the pulley B to the winch W. The movements of the pulley C are controlled by a rod D mounted on a pivot Q on a strut N on the crane structure. To ensure a uniform winding of the hoisting rope on the winding drum, the drum B Fig. 4, is splined on an inner drum A<1> and has nuts H engaging a screwed spindle E mounted on the inner drum and carrying a pinion G engaging a non-rotating spur wheel I. As the drum B rotates it is traversed along the inner drum by the screwed spindle E.
