Abstract

293,145. General Electric Co., Ltd., and Marshall, C. H. April 13, 1927. Tipping-apparatus. - Relates to the type of apparatus in which a tipping-frame 7, 8 turns about a number of successive axes formed by the points 12 on the arms 8 as the latter move to the position shown in broken lines. The apparatus is arranged so that the centre of gravity of the moving system is always at the same side of the tipping axis, the wagon tending to right itself, and the rail platform 1, pivoted in the tippler at 4 so as to come against the side support 19 when the tippler is tilted, is provided with a cam surface 18 engaging the stationary support 5 so that the side of the wagon is lowered gradually against support 19. Specification 194,812 is referred to. The sections 7, 8 of the frame are pivoted together at 10 so that on tilting, the top of the wagon is brought against the top clamp 14 pivoted on the arms 8. The tippler is operated by ropes 11 passing over sheaves 27 on pivoted jibs 28 as described in Specification 292,302. The side supports 19 are mounted to slide in guides 22, Fig. 5, so that the wagon-springs are free to expand when relieved of load in tipping. The supports 19 comprise timber baulks with steel backing and rope facing, and rest upon stops 26.
