Abstract

Springs and like resilient metal articles are made of copper alloys containing 0,5-5 per cent of aluminium and 3-4 times as much nickel, with or without up to 39 per cent of zinc or up to 15 per cent of tin. The articles are made from the alloy in soft or partly hardened condition and afterwards heated to 300-600 DEG C. The softening may be effected by heating to 800-900 DEG C. followed by rapid cooling; partial hardening may be effected by cold working.
