Abstract

A copper-titanium alloy contains about 2-10 per cent of titanium and may be improved by heating at about 700-1000 DEG C. and cooling quickly followed by tempering at about 200-500 DEG C. The alloy may contain other metals, for example tin, nickel, cobalt, chromium, manganese, magnesium, aluminium, zinc. Preferably these metals should form intermetallic compounds with titanium, and they can be introduced into molten copper as titanium alloys, for example an alloy containing 30 per cent of titanium and 70 per cent of manganese.
