Abstract

A copper alloy, particularly for bearings, contains 0,5-5 per cent of chromium or 0,2-1 per cent of vanadium or both, 0,2-4 per cent of iron or cobalt, and less than 3 per cent of tin, with or without up to 4 per cent of any of the metals nickel, manganese, and aluminium. A deoxidant, such as one or more of the elements phosphorus, silicon, zinc, and magnesium, may be added in such proportion that not more than 0,2 per cent of any one or not more than a total of 0,5 per cent remains. Extruded bars or tubes of the alloy may be used for the manufacture of bearing bushes, or the alloy may be cast or may be applied as a layer to a steel or other shell. Specification 445,620 is referred to.
