Abstract
An alloy particularly for bearings consists of zinc with 3-12,5 per cent of aluminium, 0,1-2 per cent of copper, and 0,5-2,3 per cent of magnesium, with or without up to a total of 0,7 per cent of one or more of the metals nickel, iron chromium, cobalt, manganese, and vanadium. The alloy may be made by adding aluminium alloys of the metals except zinc and magnesium to molten aluminium, then adding about half the zinc, then the magnesium, and finally the remainder of the zinc.
