Abstract

Alloys.-Malleable alloys of nickel, copper, and iron consist of about 20-40 parts of nickel, 20-40 parts of copper, and 40-60 parts of iron, and are made by melting the metals in an electric furnace with fluxes which produce a non- oxidizing atmosphere, magnesium, aluminium, manganese, or ferro-silicon being used as a deoxidizer. In some cases up to 20 per cent. of chromium may replace a corresponding amount of the iron.
