Abstract

In a process for the manufacture of metal tubes, the tubes are formed from a soft copper-nickel-aluminium alloy containing 0,5-5,0 per cent of aluminium (preferably 1-3 per cent) and nickel about 3-4 times the aluminium content, and the tubes hardened by heating them to 300-600 DEG C. The alloy may be softened before working by heating to 800-900 DEG C., and cooled rapidly, or the alloy may be hardened partially by cold working before forming the tubes. The alloy may contain up to 37 per cent of zinc. Specifications 250,194, 254,042, [both in Class 72, Iron &c.], and 386,017 are referred to.
