Abstract
Magnesium alloys contain aluminium and silver, with or without one or more of the metals manganese, zinc, and calcium. They may contain up to 11 per cent of aluminium and silver together, 6-8 per cent of aluminium, and 1,5-3 per cent of silver, with or without up to 4 per cent of manganese, and up to 6 per cent of zinc or calcium. The alloys may be heated to about 400 DEG C. for 15 minutes or more, and then hardened by heating to 130-220 DEG C. for one or more days. The Provisional Specifications refer also to magnesium alloys containing calcium and cerium.
