[Class 42 (i).] Shrinking and calendering fabrics -When calendering artificial silk fabrics &c. in a machine in which the fabric passes between an endless web 6 and a heated drum 5 slip. ping of the fabric 1 relatively to the web and crinkling of the fabric are prevented by sucking the fabric on to the web as it passes round the small roller 4 and until it is nipped by the drum 5. The roller 4 is perforated and connected with an exhausting device. The holes in the lower part of the roller may be closed by a mask x.
