Abstract

639,786. Suction dryers. RICHMOND PIECE DYE WORKS, Inc. July 10, 1947, No. 18305. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1946. [Class 34(i)] A suction dryer for textile webs consists of a perforated drum 1 over which the web 95 is guided by rollers 91-94. A longitudinal suction duct 51 is fixed adjacent the upper inner surface of the drum and has a longitudinal slot 52 lying within the area underlying the web. Resilient sealing strips 56, 57 may be provided adjacent the slot edges and the duct communicates through hollow standards 34 with a suction pump 84. The drum may be mechanically driven or revolved by the web.
