Abstract
418,386. Vaporizers. HURLBUTT, T. K., 35, Pearson Street, South Shields. April 29, 1933, No. 12474. [Class 7 (iii).] To convert an existing petrol engine to a heavy-oil engine without renewing the exhaust manifold, a vaporizing chamber is sunk into and welded to the exhaust pipe 2. The chamber is closed at the ends and has a division bar 7 extending to near each end to cause the heavy-fuel mixture entering at 5 to flow the whole length of the chamber before being discharged through pipe 8 to the intake manifold 3. The division bar may be hoisted at a point midway between the inlet and outlet ports. Starting is effected by a petrol carburetter connected to the opening 6.
