Abstract

406,659. Thermionic valves. EDWARDS, J. H., 35, St. James's Avenue, West Ealing, London. Aug. 29, 1932, No. 24087. [Class 39 (i).] Ina a valve having an anode, a cathode, a control grid and an accelerating grid interposed between the anode and the control grid, the anode is formed by one or more plates, the edge or edges of which face towards the accelerating grid. The plates are preferably imperforate, but may be perforated, or consist of wire meshes or of wires wound over supports ; they may be arranged parallel with or perpendicular to the axis of the electrodes and may be corrugated. As shown, the anode consists of two plates 3 having the form of the figure 8 and disposed so that their edges face towards accelerating grids 2 arranged on each side of a W-shaped cathode 5 surrounded by a control grid 6. A boxlike screen 1 enclosing the cathode and control grid is connected with a low potential.
