Abstract

406,499. Spray carburetters. RICHTER, J., Steyr, Austria. April 10, 1933, No. 10698. [Class 7 (iii).] An annular fuel jet 14 is enclosed by annular air passages 16, 17 in which fins 18, Fig. 6, formed on the upper surface of the fuel jet, and fins 19 on a cone 15 which is pressed by a spring 20 against the lower surface of the fuel jet cause the air to rotate in opposite directions. Petrol or heavy oil is supplied from floatchambers 1, 2, Fig. 3, through passages 3, 4 to a chamber 7 and the fuel, selected by a valve 8, is supplied through passages 9 or 10 to an annular channel 11 which is connected to the fuel jet 14 by pipes 12a, 12b at different heights to provide a reserve of fuel for acceleration. The space 25 between the float chambers 1, 2 is heated by a pipe connected to the water cooling-system of the engine, and the upper part of the carburetter including the idling jet 24 is heated by the exhaust gases.
