Abstract

Alloys for bearings consist mainly of cadmium with 0,25-7 per cent of nickel. Up to 3 per cent of any of the metals aluminium, antimony, copper, and magnesium may also be present. In making the alloy nickel in the form of pure thin sheets may be added to the molten cadmium while this is covered with a flux such as zinc chloride, the other metals, if any, being added at the same time.
