Abstract

A copper alloy contains 0,25-5 per cent of silicon and 0,05-1,5 per cent of cadmium, with or without up to a total of 0,5 per cent of any of the following as impurities: zinc, manganese, tin, aluminium, nickel, cobalt, iron, and beryllium. One or more of the following may also be present: 0,05-1 per cent of lead, 0,01-1 per cent of sulphur, and 0,01-2 per cent of tellurium. The cadmium may be introduced in the form of a copper alloy containing 10-50 per cent of cadmium, and the silicon either as such or as a copper-silicon alloy.
