Abstract

An aluminium alloy for bearings contains 1-10 per cent of lead and 1,1-10 per cent of antimony, with or without 1-10 per cent of zinc. Lead and antimony may be partly replaced by 0,1-5 per cent of one or more of the metals tin, cadmium, bismuth, thallium, and arsenic, and the antimony may be partly replaced by 0,6-5 per cent of calcium, subject to a minimum of 0,5 per cent of antimony. If the alloy contains 3,5 per cent or more of antimony, there may also be present 1-10 per cent of one or more of the elements copper, nickel, cobalt, iron, manganese, chromium, and silicon, and 1,6-10 per cent of magnesium.
