Abstract

Quaternary magnesium alloys contain 0,1-2,5 per cent of manganese, 0,1-15 per cent of cadmium, and 0,1-15 per cent of zinc, the sum of the three added metals being less than 25 per cent. The alloys may be made by melting the ingredients in the presence of a suitable flux or inert atmosphere, or by allowing molten magnesium to act on a reducible manganese compound and subsequently adding the other ingredients.
