Abstract

318,802. Pacz, A. Nov. 29, 1928. Alloys.-Copper-aluminium alloys containing 87-93 per cent of copper and 3-9 per cent of aluminium contain also iron and silicon, for example about 1-3 per cent of iron and 1.25- 2.5 per cent of silicon, with or without a small amount of manganese. The alloys may be made by melting the copper, aluminium, and silicon together and adding the iron in the form of cast iron powder or as ferro-silicon, ferro-manganese, ferro-titanium, ferro-boron, or ferro-siliconzirconium. The melting may be effected in the presence of fluorides, such as sodium silicon fluoride; or the iron powder or iron alloy may be introduced as a mixture with fluorides and aluminium powder.
