Alloys.-An alloy particularly for structural purposes consists of 11-16 per cent of aluminium and 84-89 per cent of iron. The alloy may be prepared by melting together commercially pure iron and aluminium and pouring at about 1600‹ C. Up to about 0.5 per cent of silicon may be added.
