[Class 51 (ii).] Comprises two similar forms of gas or oil fired Perkins'-tube ovens. In one, Figs. 2 and 4, adapted for conversion of an existing solid fuel oven, the fire-box is divided by horizontal refractory partitions D, E into separate combustion chambers, one for each row of Perkins' tubes and each containing one or more tubular burners N with nozzles immediately under the tube ends. Secondary air is supplied through controlled openings coaxial with the ends of the burners, and the combustion products are exhausted through end passages a connecting with vertical flues F and cross header flues H. In the second form, Fig. 7, for application to an existing gas or oil fired oven, the secondary air is introduced through top and end jacket flues h<1> and the combustion products are exhausted through end jacket flues n<1>, the secondary air being thus preheated. A water-heating coil Q may be embedded in the material of a partition.
