Abstract

Liquid and gaseous fuel furnaces.-In a Perkins tube bakers' oven of the kind having arranged on opposite sides of the oven door d a pair of combustion chambers c into which extend the lower ends of the inclined tubes b, means are provided for firing with solid, liquid or gaseous fuel. The oven shown in Fig. 5 is fired by gas supplied to burner-pipes i from a main h, the former being replaced by injector or other burners when liquid fuel is used. For firing with solid fuel, the pipes i are removed and the furnaces fitted with ordinary firegrates as shown at c<1>, Fig. 5. Fig. 6 shows an oven fired by gas generated in a producer f provided at the rear of the oven beneath the sole-plate a, the gas being conveyed to the combustion chambers c through a flue g. A producer for each combustion chamber may be provided or one producer may supply both chambers, the pipe h and tubes i being utilized for the supply of air for combustion.
