Abstract

198,530. Underfeed Stoker Co., Ltd., and McEwen, S. April 26, 1922. Pulverulent-fuel furnaces.-In a process of carbonizing pulverised coal for making coal gas the powdered coke is burned and the heat of combustion is imparted to the coal gas produced which is passed up through the retort. The retort a which is fed with pulverised fuel is tubes of a boiler c to the flue m and part is drawn through port h' into the recuperator h. flanked by combustion chambers b which serve to heat water-tube boilers c. The powdered coke passes from the retort to a conveyor i and is raised to a bin k from which it is fed to burner nozzles l<3> in the combustion chambers. Part of the combustion products passes over the where it passes through the 'tubes and port h<2> to the flue m.
