291,570. Procter, H. A. April 9, 1927. Tunnel furnaces.-A tunnel annealing furnace is heated by burning pulverulent fuel in chambers b separate from, but communicating with, the tunnel chamber a. The combustion chambers may be at the sides of the tunnel, as shown, or may be otherwise situated, for example at the top or ends, and they may be fitted with baffles arranged to cause the heating- gases to take a zig-zag path. A large combustion chamber may be divided into a number of independently fired sections.
