Abstract

489,902. Tunnel furnaces for coking &c. SCHELOUMOW, P., and EESTI PATENDI AKTSIASELTS. Sept. 13, 1937, No. 24907. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 51 (ii) and 55 (i)] In a tunnel furnace for coking &c. of the kind described in Specification 307,795, [Class 55 (i)], in which the heating of the charge is effected by the forced circulation of the tunnel atmosphere through heat exchangers distributed along the length of a heating-gas duct arranged parallel to the oven and fired from one end, auxiliary firing-points are provided along the duct so that the heating temperature can be varied along the length of the tunnel in accordance with requirements. Burners may deliver into combustion chambers in the floor of the duct, or through the side walls, and in both cases the inlet ports to the duct are so arranged that the inflowing gases will oppose the main heating-gas stream.
