Abstract
567,634. Furnaces. PETRO-CHEM DEVELOPMENT CO., Inc. Aug. 28, 1942, No. 7441/44. Convention date, Feb. 2, 1942. Divided out of 567,610, [Group III]. [Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group III] In a tubular furnace particularly for distilling and cracking oils of the kind in which a series of upright tubular heat exchange units 19 are arranged around a refractory wall 12 defining a combustion chamber and in which the combustion gases from burners 15 are deflected onto the units by a cone structure 13 the quantity of gases flowing over the outlets or upper ends of the heat exchange units is decreased by increasing progressively the height of the wall 34 comprising the upper portion of the structure 13 and forming with the wall 12 an annular passage for the gases. The tubes 19 in the annular passage may be provided with fins 36. The cone 13 is assembled from sections so as to be removable for cleaning. Specification 567,610 is referred to.
