Abstract

483,136. Heating air and gases. AKT.- GES. FUR TECHNISCHE STUDIEN. Oct. 1, 1937, No. 26591. Convention date, Oct. 12, 1936. [Class 64 (i)] In an air or gas heater for use particularly in thermal power plants, sinuous tubes 9 arranged vertically around a combustion chamber are supported by nipples in a refractory plate 13 which is freely suspended by rods 14 from the top of external framework. The tubes are connected to upper and lower headers 11, 10 and are arranged radially of the combustion chamber, the furnace gases being directed upwards and downwards along the tubes by a baffle 2. The furnace walls, which are filled with slag wool or other insulating material, may rest on the setting 8, or they may be suspended from the plate 13. The tubes are welded to nipples which are screwed into or are supported in recesses in the plate.
