Abstract

397,888. Pipe unions. JONES, F. G., 8, Clifton Vale, Clifton, Bristol. Feb. 29, 1932, No. 5992. [Class 99 (i).] A union for pipes 1, 1<1> comprises two caps 3, 3<1> which are screwed on to the pipe ends and are coupled together by a nut 9. The caps are provided with machined abutting faces 6, 6<1>, one of which may be provided with an annular V-groove to receive a corresponding projection on the other, and internally with machined faces 4, 4<1> against which the ends of the pipes are adapted to abut, the latter also being machined. Further, the minimum internal diameter of the caps is made equal to that of the pipes. For high pressures a fibre or soft metal ring 18 may be incorporated in the joint as shown.
