393,464. Machine guns. AKTIESELSKABET DANSK REKYLRIFFEL SYNDIKAT, Aarhusgade, Copenhagen. Oct. 13, 1932, No. 28540. Convention date, March 5. [Class 92 (ii).] Relates to machine guns comprising a " recoil " arm 16, Fig. 1, controlling the breech mechanism and a firing hammer 14 cooperating with a sear 9, 12 adapted to be pulled by a pawl 7, 10 pivoted at 6 to a trigger 2 rocked about its pivot 3 by an external mechanism 4, such as a gear synchronized with the propeller of an aircraft, a cam 17 being provided on the hub of the recoil arm 16 to hold the pawl 7 out of action unless the breech is closed. According to the invention, a spring- loaded pawl 19, 20 is provided to hold the recoil arm in the breech-open position unless this pawl is pulled by a Bowden-wire or like mechanism 30, Fig. 3. By means of this device the firing can be started and stopped without stopping the synchronized gear, and when firing is stopped the breech is held in the open position. Preferably the synchronized gear is also stopped, in which case the mechanism 28, Fig. 3, for doing this is coupled directly to a pedal 25, whereas the mechanism 30 is coupled by a slot 32 to a pin 31 on the pedal 25. This lost-motion connection ensures that the last loaded cartridge is always fired and the breech then held back in the open position.
