Abstract

116,469. Mallock, A. Jan. 15, 1918. Machine guns.-Consists in modifying the trigger mechanism of the Lewis gun so that it can be adjusted for single shot or continuous firing by interposing between the trigger arm b and the sear tail c<1> a member D pivoted to the trigger arm b and co-operating with an adjustable stop e‹ on the casing. In the position for single shot firing, Fig. 1, the stop e<0> is in the path of the pivoted member D which, when the trigger is pulled, first lifts the tail of the sear and is then turned by the stop and disengaged from the sear. In the position for continuous firing, Fig. 5, the stop e<0> does not engage the member D, which remains in engagement with the sear.
