Abstract
1,207,165. Safety device. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 27 Oct., 1967 [21 Dec., 1966], No. 49020/67. Heading F3C. The Specification discloses a multibarrelled "Gatling" type gun also described in Specifications 1,207,163 and 1,207,164. The claims relate to the provision of a safety mechanism whereby the single firing spring 142 is deactivated and made incapable of firing the gun whenever the cover 30 is opened. The pin 144 associated with spring 142 is provided with a transverse pin 146 which is contacted by the latch arm 240 when the latter is moved into a cover release position, the pin and spring then being held from operating the hammer actuating gear. The latch arm 240 is pivoted at 241 in a slot in the cover and has an extension which is received in a slot 242a in a pad 242 on the fixed housing. A detent 243 is provided. The lever may also block the rotation of the rotor.
