Abstract

1,132,611. Latches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 7 March, 1966 [24 May, 1965], No. 21892/65. Heading E2A. [Also in Division H1] On depression of a button 1 against a restoring spring a shoulder 9 on a pawl 5 pivotally mounted on'shaft 2 abuts a shoulder 17 on a latch 11 pivotally mounted on the housing 3 so that pawl 5 is rotated anticlockwise and a hook 20 on pawl 5 is moved beneath a shoulder 18 on latch 11. On release of button 1, hook 20 engages shoulder 18 and latch 11 rotates clockwise so that a tip 14 thereon is brought under a shoulder 8 on pawl 5 and a shoulder 16 on latch 11 engages a shoulder 22 on a spring 19 to latch the mechanism in its actuated state. On further depression of button 1 shoulder 8 engages tip 14 and pawl 5 rotates clockwise. This releases hook 20 from under shoulder 18 and pawl 5 is restored to its original position. As pawl 5 rises, it engages spring 19 and releases shoulders 16 and 22 so that latch 11 rotates anticlockwise to its original position under the action of a spring.
