Abstract

1,009,073. Armour cupola. OERLIKON-BUHRLE HOLDING A.G. April 21, 1964 [May 16, 1963], No. 16483/64. Heading F3C. An armour cupola has a drum shield 7, 8 pivotable about a horizontal axis A and an ejector shaft 10 for cartridge cases connected therewith. A cut-out 9 is arranged in the ceiling 31 of the cupola and is capable of being closed by a closure slide 11 spring biased over at least part of its sliding path to contact the shaft 10. The sliding path is limited in the advance position by the drum shield 8. The shaft 10 is provided with a pivoted flap 16 which is opened and closed by the gunner via members 17, 18. With the flap open the cartridge cases 19 impinge on the flap 16 and are deflected away laterally.
