[Class 58] A sampling apparatus for dividing a stream of solid fluent material comprises a rotatable directing head 70 having a series of compartments 101 with an aperture 75 in the base through which the material coming from a delivery 120 may pass into an inner hopper 3 and is discharged at 18 when a flap valve 102j is vertical; when the flap covers the aperture the material passes into the outer hopper 4 and is discharged at 8. Instead of the flaps 102j, sliding plates may be used. By arranging the position of the flaps 102j or plates, predetermined proportions of material may be separated into hopper 3 or 4. The directing head 70 may be stationary and the delivery means 120 rotatable.
