Abstract

1,018,947. Pneumatic separating. M. T. SCHMIDT. July 11, 1963 [July 12, 1962]. No. 27529/63. Heading B2H. An apparatus for cleaning and sorting granular material comprises an air riser duct having a side opening 6 fitted with a rotatable member 15 which is arranged to co-operate with the walls defining the opening to project the material to be treated into the duct in an upwardly and outwardly direction from the opening. The air is drawn up or blown through an opening 3 in the duct and the material to be treated fed from a shoot 16 to a housing 7 for the rotatable member 15. The bottom of the housing is provided with a movable arcuate portion 9 which can be adjusted by a handle 10 for directing the material into the duct at the desired angle. The velocity of the members 15 may be varied and the duct arranged in an inclined position in the region of or below the member. The housing 7 has a bottom opening which can be uncovered by the portion 9 for emptying purposes.
