The subject-matter is as that in parent Specification 1,221,013 but the claims relate to a breech mechanism which is characterized in that the casing is locked in its rearmost position on the breechblock when the breech mechanism is in an open position and means is provided for unlocking the casing from the breechblock when the breech mechanism is returning to its closing position.
