Abstract
1,111,044. Gun firing mechanism. SECRETARY OF THE ARMY U.S.A. 30 April, 1965 [30 April, 1964], No. 18251/65. Heading F3C. A bolt for a gun of the rotary multi-beveled type firing ammunition having sensitive electrical primers comprises a shaft 12, which is guided in a groove formed in the gun casing and moves relative to the bolt body 23 during such guiding movement to move a pivoted member 24 to a position in which it locks the bolt when the latter is in firing position. Movement of the shaft 12 to the position in which the bolt is looked also cams a lever 22 to pivot about a point 21 to apply pressure to a piezoelectric crystal 28 the current from which is conducted to a spring-loaded firing pin which is moved at the same time to fire a cartridge by pivoted lever 32 coupled by link 34 to the lever 22. A bolt is provided for each barrel of the gun.
