Abstract

386,483. Pipe &c. joints. BIHET, O., 122, ChaussÚe Wilson, FlÚmalle-Haute, Belgium. March 31, 1932, No. 9242. Convention date, June 11, 1931. [Class 99 (i).] A joint for the connection of underground and other lines of gas, water, air, and supply pipes, and for the connection of pipes to taps, cocks, sluice valves, plug valves, &c., comprises an outer tubular member such as a sleeve U, as shown in the Figure, or a pipe, and an inner tubular member such as B, one of them having an annular recess C containing a flexible rubber &c. packing ring of H-section the H being perpendicular to the axis of the tubular members so that when the inner member is introduced, projecting lips of the packing ring are turned over. The joint permits relative sliding of the parts joined. Cast pipes or rolled steel pipes may be employed, and the groove may be made in a thickened end or formed by welding or otherwise fixing collars to the tubular member.
