552,435. Pipe couplings. SOC. D'TNVENTIONS AERONAUTIQUES ET MECANIQUES, S. 1. A. M. Oct. 3, 1941, No. 12815. Convention date, April 2, 1940. [Class 99 (i)] A readily disconnectible coupling for fluid-pressure conduits comprise spigot and socket members a, g fitted with packing h and held in engagement by a longitudinallysplit collet b secured at b<SP>1</SP> to the spigot a and compressed around the socket g by means of a sliding sleeve f. Valves m<SP>1</SP>, m<SP>2</SP> in the coupling-members being arranged to open and close automatically as the joint is made or broken. A beading e on the collet engages over a shoulder g<SP>3</SP> on the socket, and the collet b is bulged cutwardly at the middle to prevent undesired withdrawal of the sleeve f. The spigot part a of the coupling may be covered by a removable cap when uncoupled. Specification 174,745, [Class 99 (i)], is referred to.
