Abstract

270,816. Victaulic Co., Ltd., Johnson, P. G., and Morgan, H. R. Feb. 15, 1926. Joint-making packing.-A packing-ring of flexible material of the type described in Specification 149,381, [Class 99 (i), Pipes and tubes, Joints &c. for], is provided with one or more openings 6 in its outer periphery 2 so that a pipe or fitting can be connected to the pipe, fitting or pipe joint carrying the packing-ring. Each opening is provided with sealing-lips 7 and each may be formed in a tubular extension 8 projecting from the ring, while the main and branch lips 4, 7 may be made parallel, or conical as indicated by the dotted lines. The invention is also said to be applicable to packing-rings of the type described in Specification 234,863, [Class 99 (i), Pipes and tubes, Joints &c. for], which are used for connecting a pipe to a facing on a valve, &c. According to the Provisional Specification, the packing-ring is preferably provided with a housing.
