Abstract
383,828. Brake-operating mechanism for trailers. LINDNER AKT.-GES., G. and WESTERMANN, F., 160, Hallesche Strasse, both in Ammendorf, near Halle-on- Saale, Germany. Feb. 26, 1932, No. 5843. [Class 103 (i).] A braking device for a trailer applied by the overrunning of the trailer comprises a casing 1 provided on the front of the trailer pole 2, in which casing the slidable draw-bar 3 is guided and in which is accommodated the damping device. The damping device comprises two springs lying one within the other, the front end of the outer spring 8 bearing against the .screw-threaded cap 4 closing the front of the casing 1 while the rear end bears against a sleeve 5 slidable on the draw-bar in the casing. The backward movement of the sleeve in the casing is limited by a stop 6. The ends of the inner spring 9 bear against the cap 5 and an abutment 10 slidable on the draw-bar and engaging the cap 4 when the draw bar is pulled. The draw-bar operates the brake by means of levers 12. The brake is rendered inoperative for reversing by a swinging arm 14 operated by a handle 15.
