Abstract

The coupling device, esp. for road vehicles, prevents the transfer of undue force in case of collision. It consists of a cranked arm (1) with a sphere (2) and a fixing piece (3) to go on the rear of a vehicle. It is guided telescopically in a guide tube (4). A release of the ball assembly in the guide tube takes place in the traction position (7) by a spring (6) which presses on a ring (5). The sphere assembly is prevented from twisting by a guide rod (8) which goes in a slot (9) in the guide tube (4). Various alternatives are possible, including the use of a leaf spring.
