Abstract

1,137,739. Safety harness. BRITAX (LONDON) Ltd. 23 May, 1967 [27 May, 1966], No. 23908/66. Heading A3V. One end 2 of a safety belt 1 is permanently or detachably anchored to the vehicle seat, floor or lower bodywork region and the other end 4 carries a runner 11 which is slidably confined in a guide track 5 mounted on or preferably above the vehicle door at the other side of the seat. At the rear end of the track is a down turned portion 15 housing a compression spring 19 on which the runner seats and which allows the user limited forward movement when the belt is in use. To release the belt the user lifts the runner and slides it to the front of the track. In an alternative form, Fig. 2 (not shown), the down turned portion is of lesser length and ends in a cup-like bearing (16) and the spring is omitted.
