Abstract

1497397 Seat belt anchorages BRITISH LEYLAND UK Ltd 28 April 1975 [26 March 1974] 13225/74 Heading A3V A vehicle includes an upper anchorage point of a vehicle safety harness comprising a fixed meshable member 16 incorporated in the vehicle structure and extending over a path length, a movable meshable member 17 forming part of a guide 19 for belt 20 and displacable for positioning at a selected position along the path length; and means e.g. leaf spring 23 biassing movable member 17 into meshing engagement with fixed member 16 at least when member 17 is at the selected position. Belt 20 extends in direction 21 to a take-up reel and diagonally in direction 22 over the shoulder of the occupant to his opposite hip. Serrated member 16 is welded inside a hollow body structural member 11. Belt guide 19 pivots on bolt 18 which bolt passes through slot 12 in member 11 and is secured to serrated member 17. A motor may drive member 17 automatically to a predetermined belt loading or alignment relative to the occupant. The belt may be self stowing or static and be for front or rear seat use.
