1,262,423. Slack adjusters. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. 19 Nov., 1970 [6 Feb., 1970], No. 5952/70. Addition to 1,189,319. Heading F2E. In a slack adjuster as in patent Specification 1,189,319, the other part 12 of the clutch is driven in the directions in which it is operable, by a member 20 movable with a lever 1 to trace out a path at one end of which corresponding to the lever 1 being in its " brake-released " position a first stop 102 is located, a resiliently deflectable second stop 104 being spaced along the path from the first stop 102 in the direction of movement of the member 20 as the lever 1 is moved in a " brake-applied " direction. Both stops 102, 104 are carried on a common annular stop member 24 with respect to which the lever 1 is angularly movable and which has an extension arm 25 by means of which the stop member 24 can be rigidly fixed with respect to a part of any vehicle on which the slack adjuster is mounted. The first stop 102 comprises a pin secured to the stop member 24 and the second stop is constituted by a "tail" 103 of spring 104 wrapped around the axial extension 25 of the stop member 24 and located circumferentially on the extension by the end of the spring opposite " tail " 103 being entered into a hole in the stop member. The annular position of the " tail " in its undeflected position is determined by an abutment 107 carried by the stop member against which the tail abuts.
