Abstract

356,325. Cramps. McCARTHY, F., 13, Eastern Avenue, Kensington, near Sydney, Australia. June 16, 1930, No. 18344. [Class 61 (ii).] A device for locking a vehicle brake pedal in position with the brakes applied comprises a rack bar 8 arranged to be projected from a casing 1 by a spring 10 and adapted to engage the pedal 12, or the stem thereof. The bar is held in the extended position by a detent 14, 17. The casing 1 is hinged at 4 to a forked piece 3 which is pivoted at 5 to a plate 6 so that the device may be swung into position alongside the board 7 beneath the seat when out of use. Complete withdrawal of the bar 8 from the casing is prevented by a setscrew on the casing adapted to engage the end of a flat surface on the bar.
