329,374. Cattermole, A. W. Feb. 18, 1929. Back-struts.-A device for preventing backward running of a vehicle comprises an arm 1 pivoted at 4 on the rear spring 14 and adapted to be lowered to engage the lower end, which may be fitted with a rubber pad, with the track, a branch part 2 of the arm thus engaging beneath the spring. A lug 12<A> on the arm 1 is arranged to snap into engagement with a spring urged bolt mounted at 7 on the spring to hold the arm normally raised. The bolt can be withdrawn to allow the arm to fall by a cable which may extend to the driver's seat or in the case of a trailer may be connected to the preceding vehicle so that the arm is lowered if the trailer should break away. An additional cable 13 may be attached to the arm for raising it.
